32weeks 6days0

7.30am tomorrow we have to be at periop for the c/s and our little mans arrival.

It appears my specialist basically said for him to be born, no talk at all about a transfusion today!

All consented and had my talk with the anesthetist, am having a spinal which I am so glad about. I was dreading them saying no I have to be knocked out.

Second steroid is done, bloods are done and sent to the blood bank for blood for Ethan.

NICU have made a special request that I have the c/s as early as possible in the morning for them to be able to get him stablised etc etc.

I just cant believe this has all happened so fast and so early.

So please send lots of prayers for us all

Straight to the point, first lot of steroids on board this morning, second tomorrow morning and the decision will be made tomorrow. ATM we are looking at a c/s Thursday afternoon or possibly Friday morning, NICU are assuming Thursday for their prep. Alternatively, my specialist who I have seen with all my other pregnancies returns on Thursday - he has had a year of long service leave, what a welcome back to the job!! Anyway, they have talked with him to see what he would like done. If he would prefer delivery over an intra-uterine transfusion. But ATM we are prepared for the c/s and looking towards that. If the IUT route is taken then that would be done Thursday.

So I guess in a way we are still up in the air, NICU seem to think that it will be delivery on Thursday as they have dealt with the specialist on these cases before.

As for me, I am happy with whatever he decides. I really don’t want to have to make a choice either way, although I do know at the end of the day the choice is ours. I know he will give me his recommendation, and of course we will go with that.

Had my scan this morning and it could have gone better. His measurement of the blood flowing through his brain has increased quite a lot…basically the faster the blood flow the more likely the risk of anaemia. His came back as 56 and to be born pretty much right now it only needed to be 62! We are just keeping everything crossed that it was just one of those things….but we aren’t fobbing it off either. I have to go back next week for another scan and if he slows down in movement I am off to the hospital sooner. Although that worries me, I hate having to worry about movement..never quite know if it is ok or not IYKWIM. He is measuring fine in growth and is 1.8kg, so definitely not a big one this time around.

Have hit reality now, am going to hit the shops tomorrow to get everything for my bag. Pretty scary that he could arrive at any time now.

note - these are all diary entries I have made during the course of the past 3 months or so. I figured I would add them to my blog for all to see.

Appointment went ok today, all is good in the BP area, hr was fine too. Have to have more bloods done tomorrow at my scan, oh the joys! Although, things weren’t as great as they could have been. One of my results came back pretty high compared to last time. It has remained stable, even dropping a little bit in all my previous tests but my last one from the 4th has gone up from 6.2 to 9.2, which basically means the quantity of the antibodies has got bigger. Not good at all, am really worried about tomorrows scan. Didn’t get much sleep last night and I am sure I wont get much tonight.
