Word of the day

October 29th, 2008

Talia’s vocabulary is continuing to expand at an unprecedented rate.  I must confess that prior to the last couple of weeks, I had read articles saying how toddlers may know hundreds of words by the time they are 2 and thought “I can’t believe that”.  But now I’m a believer!

Before I forget them all, I thought I should try and keep tabs on Talia’s new words… so I’m going to start a new page where I can list them.   All my reading and talking is paying off - woo hoo!

A few more steps

October 20th, 2008

This past weekend has seen Talia finally brave enough to take a couple of steps without hanging on to anything or anyone. Our goal of walking before Christmas now looks more likely! She has been a barefoot baby (just in socks over winter) all her life, but I’m putting her in little sandals for short periods of time each day now. We have a cute little pair with “woof-woof” on the front that squeak with each step - so cute!

Talia at nearly 16 months corrected

She is now 16 months corrected, 19 actual, and as of this morning weighs just under 9.5kg.  In other recent news, she has enjoyed her first see-saw experience!

Peek-a-boo!

October 18th, 2008

Talia loves playing peek-a-boo, but sometimes she doesn’t quite manage to hide herself… here is a little video of her.

New words!

October 16th, 2008

Talia’s vocab has gone from no real words at 12 months corrected to 2 words at 14 months corrected and now in the past 2 months she’s suddenly jumped to over 10 words (although she understands more). Yesterday we had a very special day, TWO new words.

I was putting away crayons and saying “bye bye red crayon, bye bye blue crayon” etc and Talia started saying “ba ba” each time I said bye bye. She repeated this later, so that’s a word as far as I’m concerned!

Then in the late afternoon I heard my husband arrive home (he cycles, and always whistles when he gets into to the back yard) and before I said anything Talia said “Daddeh!” I said “Did you hear Daddy Talia?” and she said “Okay” (her word for yes). She repeated that word too so yay, that’s daddy sorted, just got to keep working on mummy!
