In mid January 2009, Talia visited a speech pathologist (a referral from the previous May!) and at that time had a productive vocabulary of about 100 words.

Since then she had continued to expand her vocabulary at a rate of knots, and I no longer try to keep track of the words she knows and says.

At the time of her 2nd birthday (21 months corrected) in March 2009, she was able to make many simple 2 word sentences, and occasional 3-4 word sentences.  The longest I have heard so far is “roose go neck wabbit” (=the rooster goes next to the rabbit) when placing pieces in a puzzle.

Adjectives she uses accurately (pronunciation not always clear): big, small, long, heavy, light, red

She names songs eg star song (twinkle twinkle), farm song (Old McDonald) and books eg Maisy book, frog book as she sees/hears them or if she wants them.

As I pointed out many objects and said “look Talia, a cat/a dog/a tree etc” she puts “a” in front of lots of words - especially when calling me - “a mum”.  Her typical requests include “a mum draw”, “a mum read”, “a mum choo choo” (= Mum I want you to play with trains)

She has just started to say “went” as in “went zoo”, “went park”

      She can count 1-13 plus 16, 18-20.

Occasionally she will say “Ta-ya” for her name.
